What to bring to Day Camp

Day Campers need some everyday essentials in order to be prepared for the day, and to stay safe and have fun!

  • All campers should use a backpack to carry their stuff in. During the day the Day Camp program commutes all around camp, from going to the Outdoor Chapel, to the Waterfront, to the Tuck Shop, etc.. We have found that the easiest way for campers to carry and keep track of their belongings is by using a backpack.
  • We encourage campers to bring their Bible. (SUGGESTION: Put your Bible in a Zip-Lock bag to prevent damage from wet bathing suits, liquid leaks, dirt, etc.)
  • Campers should bring a bathing suit (one-piece suit for girls, please). All campers will have one water activity everyday, so they must bring their bathing suit and a towel. Campers may bring goggles, nose-plugs, and ear-plugs. (SUGGESTION: Put swimming suit and towel in a plastic bag to separate the wet stuff from the dry stuff in the backpack)
  • Water shoes/flip-flops for commuting to and from the waterfront aren't a requirement, but they came in handy for sandy feet when you leave the beach.
  • Sun-screen is a REQUIREMENT! The Day Camp Program is rarely indoors during the day and we encourgare our staff to remind campers to apply and reapply sun-screen throughout the day. Families enrolling two or more campers may have one bottle per family. Please do not bring aerosol cans.
  • Bug Spray isn't a requirement, but since we commute through camp, we do travel through some pretty buggy areas. No aerosol cans; families with more than one camper may share.
  • Campers need to bring a water bottle. We want our campers to be safe and well hydrated throughout the day.
  • A raincoat/poncho, jacket, sweatshirt, or long pants may be necessary on some days. We suggest that families check the daily weather forecast to dress campers appropriately.
  • Campers may also bring other items such as hat, sunglasses, camera, etc.

Additional Information:

Items NOT to bring to camp:

  • Cell phone
  • Video games
  • MP3 players
  • Any other electronics...

Why? We think it's important for campers to unplug while they are at camp, to have fun playing outside, and get to know other campers and the staff.

We ask parents to be aware of how much stuff accumulates in their camper's backpack. Day Campers walk all over camp. Too much stuff means a heavy load for campers to haul around.

During Tuck Shop time, all campers are provided a snack in addition to what they choose to purchase from Tuck Shop. Parents may also pack their campers a snack for this time.
